Never chastise a caterpillar
For lacking wings to fly
Nor accuse him of being cowardly
If he refuses to even try.
Though his destiny is inevitable
Encoded in DNA
Can he, by mere decision,
Sprout wings and flutter away?
Transformation is a process
Caterpillar, cocoon, flying free
Each, an equal part of becoming
What he is designed to be.
